Is carpet binding affordable?
If you have never had a custom rug made, you might wonder if carpet binding is an expensive process. The truth is that the answer will vary, based on several factors we would like to discuss a bit further in today?s post.
To find out about your options, read along. We will help clarify both the service and the price.
Carpet and rug binding you can use
Each carpet and rug binding type is a little different. However, the most basic option for both carpet and rugs alike is the binding tape option, also known as simple binding, which uses tape to create a seal to prevent raveling and wear.
Simple binding is, of course, the cheapest option, which goes up a bit with the serged selection. Serging uses a yard to create a hand-stitched appearance that can be the same color or an alternative one, depending on your preference.
Fringing is another option, a step above serging, and creates a fringe around the edge of your carpet or rug, which can be knotted or unknotted. However, the most expensive option is the hand-stitched binding, which creates an outstanding appearance in the finished piece.
